Decades before I watched The Three-Body Problem, I had a dream about an object that covered the entire Earth like a gigantic digital screen. Unlike a conventional public-address system, it seemed designed to communicate with every person on the planet at once. The object was incredibly advanced, displaying messages in multiple languages simultaneously.
I was amazed when I saw a remarkably similar concept in one of the series' episodes. In the story, this phenomenon is depicted as a Sophon—a subatomic particle created by the San-Ti. Using technology capable of unfolding the extra spatial dimensions hidden within a proton, they expand it into a vast, paper-thin, two-dimensional surface large enough to envelop an entire planet and project messages across the globe. Coincidence?
